Session Overview
SAP’s Evolution Since 1999: Has EAM Truly Transformed for End Users Over 25 Years?
From SAP R3 3.1h to S/4 HANA 2021, there have been numerous updates in EAM. But has it really changed? From an End User’s perspective, not significantly. For many End Users, especially Tradespeople and Operational personnel, the system hasn’t changed much. Over the years, businesses have become more data-driven, building analytics from SAP data on every aspect of EAM to improve asset efficiency and reliability. This raises the question: has anyone considered the impact of these increased data requirements on End Users who just want to do their job? In this session, we will explore what it was like for an End User in the early days of SAP and compare it with current expectations to meet data requirements.
Key points to be covered include:
End User training. What has changed?
End Users and Notifications. Is the expectation too high for some users?
How do I find and list my jobs?
Completing the job, such as Time Confirmation, adding fault codes, Malfunction information, etc. The GUI vs.
Fiori debate has been prominent for many years. From an End User’s perspective, I will showcase some of the Fiori apps to help End Users complete their tasks in SAP.
Back to Basics: Unlocking Your Current Work Management Functionality
With the introduction of SAP S/4HANA, Asset Management has been enhanced through the adoption of a Phase-Based Maintenance process supported by new Fiori applications. However, many organisations have upgraded to SAP S/4HANA without implementing Fiori or moving to the new Phase model. This session will therefore revisit key functionality already available in existing SAP environments, with a particular focus on effective Work Order planning. We will explore configuration options for converting Notifications to Work Orders, integrating Materials and Purchasing within a Work Order, correctly setting up Services, and managing Operation Work Centres and planned hours.
Key Takeaways
A clearer understanding of configuration options for Notifications, along with improved knowledge of Material and Purchasing integration within Work Orders.
Insight into how flexible and powerful service functionality can be when set up and used correctly.
Strategies for streamlining processes, reducing complexity, and leveraging available tools to make work easier for end users while delivering tangible benefits.
