Lynton Naicker is the Co-Founder and CEO of Anvaya, South Africa’s homegrown AI Legal Assistant. After 15+ years in finance, tech and transformation, he decided lawyers had suffered through enough late nights, endless documents and pretending Ctrl+F is innovation. Today, he’s focused on using AI to give legal professionals their time back — and make legal work a little less painful. Anvaya made the global top 20 at the AI World Cup — proving legal tech from South Africa can play on the world stage.
Session Overview
If Everyone Has AI, What Is the Value of Lawyers?
If everyone has access to AI and AI helps produce the research, the first draft and the contract review, what exactly is the lawyer being paid/valued for?
We will examine the more uncomfortable questions about the economics, quality and value of legal work.
For law firms, we’ll explore pricing, profitability and differentiation: if work becomes faster, who should benefit and how should that value be priced?
For in-house counsel, we’ll examine capacity, external legal spend and how to demonstrate value beyond the volume of work completed.
We’ll also confront a difficult question about the next generation: how do junior lawyers develop judgment if we automate the work through which they were expected to learn?
Expect practical examples, uncomfortable trade-offs and a framework for deciding what to delegate to AI, what to verify and what must remain a human decision.
This is not a product pitch, an AI pep talk or a prediction about robots replacing lawyers.
It is a candid examination of what clients and organisations should be paying lawyers for and how to make that value unmistakable.
No jargon. No hype. And no mistaking faster answers for better legal advice.”
