Session Overview
Data Governance: Strategic Advantage in BI & AI
A well-formulated digital and data strategy forms the cornerstone of any organisation’s digital transformation journey. It provides a structured roadmap for advancing digital and data maturity and ensures that data is treated as a strategic business asset. It is essential that this strategy aligns with the overall corporate strategy to gain executive support and integrate data priorities into the organisation’s broader agenda.
When data is managed as a core asset, organisations are empowered to unlock value through improved decision-making, real-time performance monitoring, revenue optimization, and greater operational efficiency. However, realising this value requires more than technology — it demands deliberate actions, cultural change, and, critically, a top-down commitment from leadership.
Poor data quality can silently erode business performance, leading to poor revenue generation, process inefficiencies, duplicated efforts, compliance breaches, regulatory penalties, failed audits, and poor customer experiences. To embed effective data governance, organisations must foster enthusiasm and demonstrate tangible value. This can be achieved by showcasing compelling prototypes, such as strategic executive dashboards that visualise performance metrics, customer behaviour, or operational insights.
Modern governance frameworks should incorporate real-time data profiling and quality dashboards that monitor key metrics such as completeness, accuracy, timeliness, referential integrity, and data quality rate.
