Session Overview
Streamlining Vendor Management for Competitive Advantage
This presentation aims to establish a best-in-class vendor management framework by focusing on the key policies, procedures, and practices that underpin effective oversight. It will explore the development of comprehensive vendor management policies, including robust supplier onboarding processes that ensure thorough due diligence. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of anti-corruption, anti-money laundering, and terrorism checks, alongside ongoing compliance reviews, to safeguard vendor integrity and mitigate risk.
The presentation will also cover internal tender review procedures designed to promote transparency and fairness when selecting vendors. A key component will be the introduction of vendor playbooks—standardised guides that clearly outline expectations, processes, and best practices for working with different vendors, helping to ensure consistency and clarity across engagements.
In addition, the session will address data security management policies to protect sensitive information shared with vendors. It will also highlight the necessity of managing vendor in-house security measures and data privacy processes, ensuring vendors adhere to the organisation’s security standards and legal requirements.
Finally, the presentation will demonstrate how automating these processes through an IT service management tool can streamline workflows, reduce delays, and facilitate faster onboarding. Automating compliance requests and approvals allows for a more efficient and responsive vendor management system, ultimately enabling the business to complete customer agreements more swiftly. This integrated approach to vendor management enhances competitiveness by enabling faster delivery of products and services, delivering greater value to both the organisation and its customers.
This presentation will include a real case study on the successful implementation of automated vendor processes, which contributed to winning the Best Risk and Compliance team Award in 2023 at the ALM International Legal Awards for Africa, demonstrating the tangible benefits of streamlined workflows and effective compliance management.
